Sinopsis

The set is an enormous hole in the middle of laminated plaster plaques, as if a giant iron ball had fallen onto a floor made of plaster board. By constructing the set with the same building material that is used in thousands of Portuguese homes, and then immediately beginning to deconstruct it, Cláudia Dias and Igor Gandra make a direct reference to everything that is swept under the western carpet. Despite the fact that nowadays the bombing that is being carried out by European military forces can be easily seen on the Internet or on TV, the links between our homes and the craters being opened up elsewhere by missiles is not so easily visible. This black hole in the middle of Teatro Maria Matos alludes to this causal connection. It is not just a question of showing the responsibility that the European social democrats have in the massacres currently taking place in the rest of the world. The black eye in the middle of the floor is a negative image that reveals to us what still needs to be done.

Wednesday
is the third play from the Seven Years Seven Plays project. After Monday: Watch out for the Right! (premièred at the 2016 Alkantara Festival) in which Cláudia Dias came into the boxing ring and fought against Jaime Neves and Tuesday: Everything that is solid dissolves in the air (2017), in which, together with Luca Belezze, she played the part of a working woman in a kind of live cartoon woven from a thread, the artist now comes onto the stage and works on new techniques with Igor Gandra, whose work has been in the field of theatre made from (and with) puppets and objects.
