Sinopsis

A new and fluorescent quintet has emerged in the panorama of the new Portuguese contemporary music. With the release of their debut album, on the Clean Feed label, Turbamulta are now beginning to appear at larger venues, visiting the stage of the Teatro Maria Matos and bringing with them some well-known faces and sounds. Joana Sá, Luís José Martins and Eduardo Raon dispense with the need for introductions: they have performed regularly in our concert hall, in different formations, as well as together as Powertrio, when they revealed to us their magnificent work Di Lontan in 2015. Shortly afterwards, they were to invite Nuno Aroso (percussion) and Luís André Ferreira (cello) to join with them in forming a new collective and expanding their resources and results, opening up new hypotheses, dialogues and inventions, as if everything were being discovered for the first time. As we said, new contemporary music, but also new music. Otherwise it would not be the work of these five astounding musicians, imbued with a challenging attitude and a visionary spirit, who declared the territory of Turbamulta as their fortress, from where they could set off to conquer everything around them. And they can be certain of victory because the future has already been theirs for a long time.
