Sinopsis
Based on the imaginative worlds generated by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Passion According to St. John, and the ritualistic music associated with the celebration of the saint’s feast day in Portugal, composed of revelries and general madness that involve such things as dance and music of medieval origin, Joana Sá and Luís José Martins will be responding to the commission addressed to them by Teatro Maria Matos by offering us a brief but excessive night of festivities in celebration of São João in the heart of our own theatre. Mixing the sacred and the profane, Paixão e folia para São João (Passion and Revelry for São João) will bring together a special group of artists for the unique and unrepeatable celebration of a widely commemorated event, a moment of great intensity and madness that will also serve to bring a solemn and rather unorthodox closure to several seasons.
