Sul Concetto di Volto nel Figlio di Dio (2010) [On the Concept of the Face, Regarding the Son of God] signals Italian director Romeo Castellucci’s return to Lisbon.
It is a piece that is constructed from a reproduction of painter Antonello da Messina’s work Salvatore Mundi (1495), which puts us before the face of Jesus Christ. Castellucci’s work presents three independent sequences wishing to materialize “the abandonment of divinity [in the moment when] it fully integrates its human dimension”.
