Stockhausen has described Momente as “an opera of Mother Earth surrounded by her children”. With texts by authors such as William Blake and Martin Luther, the piece exemplifies what Stockhausen calls “moments” a formal entity, in which the listener’s attention is on the “now”, on the “eternity that does not begin at the end of time but is attainable in every moment”.
