Sinopsis
“Why simplify when you can complicate?” asks Rui Carvalho, believing that this is the driving force behind his everyday life. At least in the case of music, and above all in relation to his new album, he seems to have been right: the ideas were recorded in Santa Apolónia in Lisbon, where he was surrounded by friends and advisers, but, for some unknown reason, they needed to go further, to go far away, before they were completed. “Running away to record something more.” At a certain point, this became a possible justification for the fact that Filho da Mãe’s new album was completed on the island of Madeira, without anyone knowing, at the outset, how this could be done. But just as complicated problems exist to be solved, so Rui Carvalho rapidly found the support network he needed, gathering together the people battling on behalf of the Festival Aleste and the Bar Barreirinha. In the midst of a winter storm that made everything even more complicated, Água-Má ended up coming into being, far removed from the history that it already carried with it and giving a name to the fight against the elements that it would end up winning. Now it is up to us too to reap these magnificent rewards.
