For a long time now, Rodrigo Pinheiro on piano, Hernâni Faustino on double-bass and Gabriel Ferrandini on drums have formed one of the most cohesive and unquestionable projects in the Portuguese jazz world, with their work having been deservedly recognised both nationwide and beyond our borders. Together they display an essential discography that, above all, highlights the trio’s various encounters with illustrious foreign musicians. To celebrate their 10th anniversary of playing together, Teatro Maria Matos commissioned the work Suite, a new and rather grand chapter in their career that will help to explain what ideas RED Trio have for their — and our — future. It is a work in three acts, in which each piece was written by one of its members, composed in order to participate in a constellation of eleven Portuguese and international musicians, who over the past decade have helped to define the different cycles of the trio and determine the direction taken by each of its members. It promises to be a unique night, and one not to be missed, a night of celebration and communion of epic proportions.
