Sinopsis

Since 2010, the Moroccan associations GADEM and DABATEAR have organised the Migrant’Scène Rabat Festival, with the support of the French association La CIMADE. The aim of this theatre festival is that of creating a space for encounters and debates about the issues that the Moroccans did not previously talk about enough: the laws governing foreigners and asylum conditions in Morocco, etc. We should therefore like to gather together artists, militants, researchers, teachers and educators in order to debate these issues and to begin a process of miscegenation, both on stage and in the audience: migrant men and women should be visible. Since its first edition, the festival has paid particular attention to the diversity and miscegenation that are to be found in its audience, on stage (with the participation of both amateur and professional artists and people with different nationalities in the artistic creations and in the residencies) and, furthermore, in the organisation of the festival. This miscegenation is the true strength of this festival and it allows us to open up Moroccan society to engage, in greater depth, in new discussions that echo earlier debates, to the point where they make the migratory question an important issue. It is this history between popular education and research, between art and militancy, that I shall present to you in this master class.
