Sinopsis
Sanctuary is a virtual journey across the surreal terrain of a European Union in crisis, in which racism and populism are increasing as the supervision and control of its borders continue to grow. During the course of a two-year-long research phase, in which he visited refugee camps all across Europe, Brett Bailey created iconic scenes that express the realities and states of limbo that many refugees and migrants experience on a daily basis and which describe the deliriums of the EU citizens who fear them. In his installation, Sanctuary — a prison in the form of a labyrinth that the spectators can make their way through, encountering actors from the countries of the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Lisbon and Porto — the audience will come across a series of scenes created by refugees, migrants and activists.
