Sinopsis

With a long and brilliant career both inside and outside the world of jazz, Marco Franco is no longer just simply an outstanding drummer on the Portuguese music scene. A couple of years ago, he turned his hand to the piano and, more importantly, to composition. Mudra, a magnificent album that was highly applauded throughout 2017, was performed in its entirety at our theatre in May last year, placing him under the spotlights of a genre in which he boldly inhabits the interstices of a daring and inventive modern classicism. The success of Mudra was therefore enough to spark a new phase in his life, giving priority to musical writing and the exploration of new paths of sound. We are now witnessing a second stage that once again is full of surprises: in forming a trio, Marco Franco called upon Joana Gama and Tiago Sousa to join with him in an atmospheric score, filling the air with the amalgamated sound of the different frequencies of a piano, a dulcitone and a harmonium, in an arithmetical triangle of acoustic keyboards blessed by their endless curiosity  about a world of infinite timbric possibilities. Without any hierarchies, or indeed leaders, the three musicians conspire to offer us a contemplative and emotional platform, spreading their decorative flowers over a musical landscape to which we will be the first visitors. Enjoy the honour and privilege that this is.
