Sinopsis
The title Icosahedron came to me after I had started creating the piece, and not in the beginning as a source of initial inspiration. I chose this title because I was working with twenty dancers. And because for most of the piece I wanted to form four groups, each comprised of five dancers, so that they could function as if there were only four dancers or four moving forms on stage. In other parts of the piece I wanted to create one single body, a single form made out of the joining of twenty forms. I wanted to play with abstractionism and emotion (the movement of energy).
I thought that, apart from the number of dancers, the title fit perfectly. It was a title that evoked shapes, spatial drawing, geometry, movement, the combination of numbers and emotions.
The more I read about the 20-faced polyhedron, the more it pleased me. It then began to serve as a support for what I was creating. As if by synchronicity.
